AI uncovers hidden chemical pathways to improve CO2 conversion into fuel

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have identified 9,389 chemical reactions on a copper catalyst that could help improve the conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) into valuable fuels and industrial chemicals. Published in Nature Communications, the findings combine machine learning with advanced computer simulations to reveal previously overlooked chemical pathways. The research could support the development of more effective catalysts for producing methanol from CO2 and hydrogen.
