Germany's renewable energy sources supplied 58 per cent of the country's electricity consumption during the first half of the year, marking the highest share ever recorded for a first six-month period. According to preliminary estimates by the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) and the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), the figure is almost three percentage points higher than in the same period last year. By comparison, renewables accounted for 55.8 per cent of electricity consumption across the whole of 2025.
