Nuclear-powered ship concepts secure approval in principle

Two separate nuclear-powered vessel projects have received approval in principle (AiP) from leading maritime classification societies, highlighting growing momentum behind the use of advanced nuclear technology in commercial shipping. Lloyd's Register granted AiP for the conceptual design of a nuclear-powered car carrier developed by southkorean companies, while the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) approved the integration of a nuclear reactor into cargo vessel propulsion systems under a separate international collaboration.
