Austria’s federal government has announced plans to introduce a capped industrial electricity price as part of a broader package aimed at strengthening the country’s competitiveness. The measure was agreed during a coalition meeting involving the conservative Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), the Social Democrats (SPÖ) and the liberal Neos. The package also includes the approval of underground CO₂ storage, signalling a dual focus on cost relief and long-term industrial transformation.
