European Commission proposes upgrades of the EU's energy infrastructure

The European Commission has proposed a major upgrade of the EU’s energy infrastructure aimed at lowering electricity bills, strengthening energy security and reducing dependence on Russian imports. The presented plan focuses on modernising and expanding electricity grids to allow cheaper clean energy to flow more efficiently across Member States. By improving cross-border connections and accelerating electrification, the Commission says the measures will support affordable living while ensuring a secure and reliable energy supply across the EU.
