EU’s Green Hydrogen Push Stalls as Costs Soar and Targets Slip

Europe’s ambitious push to become a global leader in hydrogen energy is falling short of its own expectations, according to a new warning from the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER). Despite investing around €20 billion in subsidies, the European Union remains far behind its targets for building the infrastructure needed to produce so-called “green hydrogen,” raising fresh doubts about the bloc’s clean energy strategy.
