First steam generator installed at Hinkley Point C

The first of four massive 520-tonne steam generators has been installed in Unit 1 of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant in southwest England. This marks a key milestone in the plant’s construction. The generator, manufactured by Framatome in France, is 25 meters long and was delivered to the site in May 2024 after being transported by sea and road. Installing it required careful maneuvering, including lifting it onto a rail system and then positioning and rotating it into its permanent place in the reactor building.
