China fights smuggling of strategic minerals

 China has pledged to intensify its crackdown on the smuggling of strategic minerals, which it deems essential to national security and economic development. The Ministry of Commerce emphasized stricter law enforcement and a “zero-tolerance” stance toward illegal exports. This follows accusations from China's state security agency that foreign intelligence services have attempted to steal rare earth resources.
