New research of more efficient clean fuel production

Researchers have developed a more efficient method to convert carbon dioxide into methanol, a cleaner alternative fuel. Traditional methods using cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) and electricity were inefficient, converting only 30% of CO2 to methanol. By adding a chemical with the formula of NiPc-OCH3 to the catalyst, the team increased efficiency to 50%, a 66% improvement over previous processes. This breakthrough, published in Nature Nanotechnology, could make methanol production faster, cheaper, and reduce waste.
