The Baltic states have successfully synchronized with the European electricity grid

The Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have successfully connected their electricity systems to the European grid, breaking away from Russia. The move was announced on Sunday February 9 and hailed by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as a significant step forward for the region's energy security and freedom. The Baltic states were connected to the Russian grid through a network built originally in the 1950s.
