Flamanville 3 NPP started to produce electricity

The Flamanville 3 EPR reactor in Normandy, France, has started delivering electricity to the grid, according to EDF. The 1630 MWe pressurized water reactor was connected to the grid for the first time at the end of December 2024, marking a significant milestone for the nuclear sector. EDF's Chairman and CEO, Luc Rémont, praised the teams for their dedication and commitment to safety throughout the project. The reactor, which began its first nuclear reaction on September 3, 2024, will undergo several months of testing and multiple connections and disconnections to the grid under the supervision of the Autorité de Sûreté Nucléaire (ASN) until it reaches full power.
