Korean scientists developed efficient piezoelectric energy harvesters

A team led by Prof. Jang Kyung-In from the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering at DGIST (Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology) in South Korea has developed a three-dimensional stretchable piezoelectric energy harvester. This device can generate electrical energy from body movements and can be worn on the skin or clothes. Unlike previous piezoelectric energy harvesters that used less efficient organic or composite materials, this new device uses lead zirconate titanate (PZT), which has high piezoelectric efficiency.
