German grid operators will need billions of euros for green energy support next year

Germany's top four high-voltage energy transmission system operators (TSOs) will require 17.03 billion euros from the national budget in the new year to finance green electricity subsidies. From 2025, the German renewable energy surcharge will be entirely funded by the federal budget to alleviate the impact of high prices on businesses and consumers. This change, after partially funding the surcharge through a special fund for years, will increase the financial load on the budget.
