EU and Japan inaugurated the JT-60SA fusion tokamak

Representatives of the EU and Japan inaugurated the world's largest superconducting tokamak. Work on the Japan Torus-60 Super Advanced (JT-60SA) fusion device began in 2007. Construction at Japan’s National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology in Naka was completed in 2020 with the first plasma in October this year. The total cost is estimated to have been EUR 560 million.
