EU Commissioner backed the launch of an industry alliance on small nuclear reactors

The EU’s Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson backed the development of an industrial alliance on small modular nuclear reactors at the 16th European Nuclear Energy Forum in Bratislava on 7 November. In the past, the European Commission was reluctant to accept nuclear energy as a clean source, and pointed to the high cost of new nuclear plants and the length of time it takes to build them.
