Kazakh referendum on nuclear plant construction

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced that there will be a referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country. The date of the vote has yet to be determined. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy has proposed the potential reintroduction of nuclear power to reduce the country's reliance on fossil fuels, diversify its energy mix and reduce CO2 emissions.
