Slovakia’s industrial emissions dropped by 20% due to high energy prices

Industrial emissions dropped by 20% in Slovakia in 2022, which can be largely attributed to high energy prices following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. According to an expert from the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute, „last year’s decline is not a reason to be happy yet, because it is mainly due to the decline of the economy.” Some of the emission declines could be permanent, as companies have introduced energy efficiency and saving measures. Some companies are developing their own renewable energy sources.
