Georgia could potentially supply energy to Europe

The German state-owned investment and development bank, the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), is one of the main players pushing the plan to import green electricity from Georgia. To enable Georgia generate more renewable electricity, KfW is supporting the expansion of the local power grid with more than €200 million. Currently, about 70% of the electricity generated in Georgia comes from hydropower. Twenty percent is generated in coal and natural gas power plants. The rest is covered by imports from Russia.
