CO2 emissions from energy production in the EU territory dropped slightly in 2022

Eurostat estimates that carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from fossil fuel combustion for energy production in the EU territory reached almost 2.4 Gigatons (Gt) in 2022, which represents a decrease of 2.8% in comparison to the previous year. CO2 emissions from energy production account for around 75% of all man-made greenhouse gas emissions in the EU.
