Slovakia will likely survive the winter even without Russian gas

Slovak gas suppliers have managed to diversify their sources of gas and the Slovak Economic Minister, Karel Hirman, believes his country will survive the coming winter even if Russian gas stops flowing. The biggest supplier in Slovakia, SPP recently announced it had renewed its contract with energy giant BP, which supplies gas from its gas fields in the North Sea, until 2024. SPP has also extended its cooperation with ExxonMobil. New contracts have been signed with Shell, ENI and RWE for 2023 and 2024.
