Hydrogen produced from nuclear will be recognized by the EU

After more than a year of delay, the European Commission has finally adopted rules for hydrogen production. Green hydrogen can only be produced from „additional“ renewable electricity. The production will have to correlate with electricity production in time and space. For example, a Spanish hydrogen producer, would be unable to claim hydrogen as renewable if the electricity used came from Sweden. The European Commission expects the rules to become irrelevant once 90% of electricity production in a given country comes from renewable sources.
