France is losing billions of euros a year in gas imports

The share of renewable energies amounts to 19% of the France’s gross final energy consumption, which is far below the 23% target that France agreed to reach by 2020. According to a new study by several French institutes, this delay is costing France €6-9 billion a year in gas imports which is necessary to replace the missing renewable sources. These costs are based on gas prices between €100 and €150 per megawatt-hour (MWh).
