Minister Habeck asked Germans to save energy to reduce reliance on Russia

According to Economic Minister Robert Habeck, Germans should start conserving energy to become more independent from Russian fossil fuels. Germany is under pressure to wean itself off Russian gas and oil, as critics say the related revenue provides Moscow with vital funds to wage war against Ukraine. The German government coalition is reluctant to resort to mandatory energy-saving measures, such as highway speed limits. Habeck has, therefore, resorted to appeals to the public.
