Germany plans to create strategic coal and gas reserves

As a reaction to the Russian attack on Ukraine, Germany plans to enact laws to ensure strategic energy reserves to cut down on German energy dependence on Russia. Owners of gas storage will be obliged to fill them before the next winter. Germany is also dependent on Russia for 50% of  coal imports. In addition, 35% of the country’s oil imports come from Russia. A national reserve would secure supply for 90 days even if the supply was stopped.
