High gas prices could slow India's coal phase-out

 Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target to raise the share of natural gas in the country's energy mix to 15% by 2030 from the current share of about 6.2%. The Indian government would like to increase the use of renewables and biofuels,  and some industries have already turned to natural gas in the "intermediate period" despite India holding vast reserves of coal.
