Chernobyl NPP was granted the old shelter dismantle licence

 The project to dismantle the old Chernobyl shelter can begin, the NPP was granted the decommissioning licence on 20 August 2021. The ageing shelter is now located under a huge new confinement, which now surrounds unit 4 and contains equipment to undertake the work. The licence for "processing and storage of radioactive waste" was issued by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU).
