G20 ministers fail to agree on more ambitious climate goals

The G20 ministers responsible for climate, energy and environment gathered in Naples in Italy, but failed to agree on more ambitious climate targets. The member countries pledged only to keep global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius. Several countries have rejected the idea of committing to keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius. The average global temperature has already seen a 1.2-degree increase compared to pre-industrial times.
