The conflict between workers on oil platforms offshore from Norway and their employers began on 30 September when 43 Lederne labour union members went on strike. According to Lederne representatives, the aim of the strike is to negotiate better financial terms for its members and include workers at onshore remote control rooms into the offshore wage agreement. Oil companies have been recently looking into ways to remotely control production at offshore fields to reduce costs.
