China launches final Beidou network satellite

China has launched the final satellite into space in its Beidou geolocation network, which is meant to rival the GPS network operated by the US Department of Defence. The Beidou network consists of 55 satellites. Other competitors to the Chinese system are Russia's GLONASS, and the EU's Galileo.
