France shuts down a reactor near the German border

The French energy company EDF has turned off one reactor at its oldest nuclear power plant Fessenheim. German and Swiss officials have long demanded the closure of the aging nuclear power plant, which is located on the border of France near Germany and Switzerland. The second reactor will be shut down on June 30.
