Ofgem regulatory office approves Orkney transmission link construction

Ofgem has approved the SSEN’s plan for a 220MW transmission link from the Orkney Islands in Scotland. The electricity link, with estimated construction costs around £260m (CZK 7.7 billion), will be completed by 2023. It will transmit electricity from new wind farms and tidal power plants to the rest of Great Britain.
