Could geothermal energy become the ultimate energy source?

In the time of growing energy consumption and pressure from public demanding a transition to low-carbon sources, it is necessary to look for new green energy sources. One of the main sources could be  geothermal energy. There are currently several methods for converting heat into electricity, however their use is not practical. A team of scientists at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, led by Dr. Sachiko Matsushita, have recently made great progress in the development of sensitized thermal cells (STCs).
