Synchronisation of the Baltic States with the Continental European Network

On 20 June 2019, representatives of the European Union, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland signed a political Roadmap implementing the synchronisation of the Baltic States' electricity networks with the Continental European Network. On 19 March 2019, a grant was approved which will provide €323 million for the first phase of the synchronization process, covering 75% of the estimated investment needs for this phase. In May 2019, the formal extension of the continental European grid to the Baltic States' was approved by the ENTSO-E association (European Network of Transmission System Operators). The Baltic States are scheduled to be fully synchronized by 2025.
