Germany’s largest wind farm in the Baltic Sea officially opened

On 16 April, German Chancellor Angela Merkel participated in an official inauguration of the Arkona wind farm which is located between the German island of Rügen and the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. With a capacity of 385 MW, Arkona is Germany’s largest wind farm in the Baltic Sea. It has already been delivering electricity to the grid for several months. Roughly five thousand workers and engineers participated in the construction of the new offshore wind farm. Total investments reached EUR 1.2 billion.
