The basemat of Turkey’s Akkuyu 1 NPP completed

Under the leadership of President Erdogan, Turkey plans to build the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in the framework of the “2023 Vision”. The power plant is planned to consist of four units with total installed power of 4800 MWe. The first unit is scheduled to start operation in 2023, marking the 100 years since the founding of modern Turkey. The remaining three units are scheduled to start commercial operation in 2025. The power plant, which will cover approximately 10% of the country’s electricity consumption, should reduce Turkey’s dependence on energy imports.
