European Commission approves Poland’s state investment aid to battery plant

The South Korean-based concern LG Chem plans to invest 325 million euros in a new vertically integrated manufacturing plant for the production of lithium-ion batteries in Poland. The Polish government has decided to support this investment with an additional 36 million euros. According to the European Commission, which investigated the Polish government's investment aid, this state aid complies with EU rules. The new plant near Wroclaw in the Dolnoślaskie region is expected to supply batteries for more than 80,000 electric vehicles per year.
