Floating solar photovoltaics systems have a great potential in the U.S.

For the first time, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) researchers, with Jordan Macknick as the principal investigator, has evaluated the potential of floating solar photovoltaic systems on reservoirs in the U.S. In their report, which was published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, they estimate that photovoltaic power plants, located on more than 24,000 reservoirs, could cover approximately 10 percent of the annual electricity consumption in the U.S.
