US SMR deployment would benefit from the same incentives as those for renewables

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has published a new report which says that significant investment would return to the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) if this power source is supported by the same incentives as those available in the last decade for the development of renewables. The report factors in state, local and federal financial support mainly for wind and solar from 2005 to 2015. During this period, wind and solar power plants received over USD 51 billion.
