The Sahara can become green again thanks to large wind and solar farms

According to a new study by researchers from the Universities of Illinois and Maryland, large wind and solar farms can have a positive effect on the whole Sahara Desert and neighbouring Sahel regions. A new climate model suggests that farms covering more than 9 million square kilometres could increase local temperature, precipitation and support vegetation growth. The report was published in the prestigious journal Science.
