How costly is your energy?

The statistical office of the European Union, Eurostat, has published another report on energy prices. Household electricity prices decreased in the European Union (EU) on average by 2.3% between the second half of 2015 and the second half of 2016.

In the same period, household gas prices went down on average by 10.5%. Since 2008, electricity prices in the EU have risen by 23% and gas prices by 2.6%.

In the second half of 2016, taxes and levies accounted on average for 36% of household electricity bills, and 26% of gas prices.
