The U.S. electric grid consists of grids operated by both private and public generation and distribution companies under both federal and state regulation.

The complexity of the system makes it more difficult to create effective protection solutions and raise necessary funds.

Protect Our Power (POP) is a not-for-profit organisation of U.S. experts dedicated to protecting the electric transmission and distribution systems. POP has published the results of a survey among 1,207 Americans who were polled during the last week of March.
