Australia has built several large solar farms

Australia is well-known for its abundance of sunshine. And the country has finally begun investing in a number of large-scale solar farms.

In 2016, seven major solar farms were constructed around the country. In 2017, investment in the 1-billion-Australian-dollar Riverland Project (located in South Australia's Riverland region) has been announced.

It is expected to become the world's biggest solar energy farm in terms of energy output. Private investors behind the Riverland solar farm have also proposed a second, smaller project in the north of the state.
