Spain has imposed a tax increase on solar energy

State subsidies in Spain which earlier led to a solar boom and creation of thousands of jobs are a thing of the past now. In a country with a high potential of electricity production from the solar radiation there are practically now new solar system installations.

The government has now increased the solar tax which is applicable also for the owners of solar photovoltaic systems on the roofs.

For example, Carlos Ibánez who installed solar panels on his roof now regrets this thirty thousand dollar investment. According to Carlos Ibánez, the Spanish government strangles businesses with various surcharges and taxes. Without the solar tax, solar energy could be a good business.
