Are the wind turbines safe?

There have been four wind turbine failures in Germany in the past four weeks. A blade fell off from one turbine and three towers collapsed with the turbines. Are the wind power plants safe?

According to the German Wind Energy Association (BWE), there are 26,500 wind turbines installed in the whole Germany, and there are on average six to seven incidents per year. Four failed turbines within just four weeks were unusual. All failures are now examined in order to determine their cause. Adherence to the maintenance instructions is examined as well.
