Electrical vehicles as part of a smart grid

The first UK’s centre of excellence for low carbon technologies, Cenex, will cooperate with thirteen international partners on the SEEV4-City project, which plans to combine electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy and smart grids. The technology is known as V2G. The project is partially funded by the Interreg North Sea Region Programme of the EU. Pilot projects will be implemented in five European cities – UK’s Leicester/Loughborough, Belgium’s Kortrijk, Netherland’s Amsterdam, Germany’s Hamburg and Norwegian Oslo. The project wants to limit the CO2 emissions, increase energy independence and save investment into the electrical grid.
