The BN-800 fast neutron reactor at the Beloyarsk power plant reached full power

Unit 4 of the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant operated by Rosenergoatom has reached full power of 789 MWe for the first time. Originally, the unit’s rated power was 880 MWe. The BN-800 reactor was running at minimal power in June 2014 and April 2015. After half-a-year shutdown, the fission reaction was restarted in November 205 and the unit was connected to the network in December 2015. Since the beginning of this year, Beloyarsk 4 has generated more than 1.3 billion kWh of electricity. It is expected that it will start commercial operation later this year.
