Japanese Prime Minister called for a restart of nuclear power plants

Japanese Prime Minister, Yoshihiko Noda has decided, despite the opposition of certain of his voters, to restart two nuclear reactors at Ohi power plant in western Japan. According to the Japanese prime minister, some companies could leave Japan due to lack of electricity. His decision is likely to be confirmed by a meeting with key ministers. All Japanese reactors are shut down after the earthquake and tsunami, which damaged the plant in Fukushima. Many Japanese are still concerned about nuclear safety and prime minister decision could affect his popularity.

According to critics of reactor shutdown, there may be a shortage of supply in the summer. Some areas will lack up to 20% of energy. Under the rules of the Japanese government, reactors must before their restart go through internationally approved tests to show that plants can withstand natural disasters. Local residents must agree with the restart of a plant.
