Britain and the U.S. are cooperating on floating wind farms development

Britain cooperates with the United States on the development of floating wind turbines that can be used in stormy seas, out of sight of land. Most wind turbines in the UK are either on land or in shallow waters off the coast. Residents are, however, protesting against these wind farms

Floating turbines can be installed in the sea with a depth greater than 100m, where the wind reaches a much greater speed. The turbines are anchored to the sea bed by cables and can withstand storms, because they move with the waves, like ships. Additionally, they can be dragged to a port for repairs. Floating turbines are being tested off the coast of Norway.
