On Thursday 25 August, the Spanish parliament approved the minority government’s energy-saving rules. Spain imports most of its gas from the United States and Algeria, but by reducing energy use the government hopes to free up gas for nations trying to wean themselves off Russian supplies.
Under the government decree, air conditioning must be set at no lower than 27 degrees Celsius in public places, for example in public transport, shops, offices, theatres and cinemas during the warmest months of the year. During the summer months, temperatures across Spain often exceed 40 °C. In winter, heating can be set no higher than 19 degrees. The new rules do not apply to home air conditioning, although people are encouraged to consume less energy.
By the end of September, any air-conditioned or heated premises must have an automatic door-closing mechanism installed to avoid energy waste.

Španělský parlament schválil plán energetických úspor menšinové vlády
Španělský parlament ve čtvrtek 25. srpna schválil opatření na úsporu energie menšinové vlády. Španělsko dováží většinu plynu ze Spojených států a Alžírska, ale snížením spotřeby energie vláda doufá, že uvolní plyn pro země, které se snaží zbavit závislosti na dodávkách z Ruska.
Podle nařízení vlády musí být například ve veřejné dopravě, obchodech, kancelářích, divadlech a kinech stažena klimatizace, která nesmí být během nejteplejších měsíců roku nastavena na méně než 27 stupňů. Teploty ve Španělsku během letních měsíců často překračují 40 °C. V zimě nesmí být teploty nastaveny na více než 19 stupňů. Nová pravidla se nevztahují na domácí klimatizace, lidé by přesto měli i doma omezit spotřebu energie.
Do konce září musí mít všechny klimatizované nebo vytápěné prostory nainstalované automatické zavírání dveří, aby nedocházelo k plýtvání energií.
